A passive ribbon to bring out the bite and edge from your guitar cabs with no muddy highs. Unlike the cheaply constructed bodies of some other affordable microphones, the VR1's all-metal housing provides efficient rejection of any electrical interference and noise - and the high-quality finish ensures a great look for years to come.
An active ribbon that can take violins and voices right to the foreground of your listener's stereo. With the VR mics, full frequency response is achieved using a clever mechanical device designed by Siwei Zou, the company CEO, and a hand-tensioned ribbon constructed by our highly specialized technicians in sE's capsule room.
With custom transformers and discrete circuitry from the man behind the recording industry as we know it, the RNR1 hears more than any other ribbon on the planet. Nobody knows audio transformers better than Rupert Neve, and ribbon mics require more transformer attention than any other. This is because the transformer that couples the ribbon to the output needs to accomplish a fairly massive impedance conversion. With the RNR1, two custom Rupert Neve-designed transformers form the buffer between the ribbon and the outside world. The circuitry between those transformers helps maintain the ultra-wide frequency response, compensating for the ribbon's natural predisposition to roll it off, and thus high-frequency content is preserved.
The second addition to the X1 Series, the X1 R brings the magic of traditional ribbon mics into the modern age with a tough construction that can handle any SPL. This is a ribbon you can take on the road. The sE Electronics X1 R is suited to a variety of recording applications, including guitar cabs, overhead drums, brass, woodwind, strings, commercial broadcast and voice-over.
